THE BEDNET STORY Bednet was a non-profit founded in 2000 by Cathy Tims. Bednet's mission statement is to provide laptops to bed ridden hospital patients. Bednet's cause was championed by MBNA, who donated laptops for Bednet to distribute to the inbound patients.
Unfortunately Bednet was cash and technology challenged. They did not have the in-house expertise to repair or load the laptops or afford a IT person to get the equipment working. Enter Second Source Computer Centers, Inc.
Second Source agreed to get as many laptops working as possible. Some had to be repaired, some were not repairable, all had to be licensed and reloaded. Second Source agreed as compensation to take a percentage of the notebooks they got working. This allowed Bednet to preserve their limited cash flow and gave Second Source some notebooks for resale. A true win-.win.
