Ship us your notebook for a FREE NOTEBOOK DIAGNOSTIC

  1. In order for us to evaluate your computer for repair, purchase or trade-in, you need to generate a SMA (Send Merchandise Authorization).  Use the CONTACT US form or send us an email at secondsourcecomputers@gmail.com and in the subject line write in capitals SMA REQUEST.  In your email provide the following information:
    • Make and model, and SERIAL NUMBER of notebook.
    • The nature of the problem in 15 words or less.
    • Physical location of notebook.
    • Your relationship to the notebook - original owner, 2nd-owner, etc.
    • Any physical damage of notebook - cracked screen, broken hinge, etc.

    2. We will respond within 3 business days with an SMA number, estimate and ship to instructions.
    3. If you decide to send notebook, you must send insured and signature required for delivery.  THE SMA EXPIRES 21 DAYS  
    4. You must also INCLUDE A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL.  
    5. We only pay for return shipping on COMPLETED REPAIRS.
    6. The SMA number we assign you must be CLEARLY MARKED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. 
    7. If the SMA number is not on the outside of the box, THE BOX WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
    8. When your notebook is diagnosed, we will send you an email with problem and cost estimate. 

At this point your options are:

  • Agree to have the repair done. We will then complete the repair, test the notebook and ship your notebook to you for the repair cost and credit $10 off the repair for return shipping. You can either pay using Paypal or through our web site.  If you pay through Paypal, send the payment to auction@2nd-source.com.
  •  Not have the repair done and request the notebook back. At this point, we will return the notebook to you in your original box with the enclosed return shipping label.
  • Not want the repair done, but want data saved and the notebook returned.     You will be quoted different pricing options for the data save based off the amount of information saved and whether you want the notebook returned to you or not. 
  • Not have the repair done, but want to trade in the notebook on a replacement we will provide. We will then give you a trade-in quotation on your notebook.  This number will be the same whether you are purchasing a $200 notebook or a $1000 notebook.

9. Once you have decided and contacted us by EMAIL, we will follow your request.

NOTE: By acquiring a SMA and sending us your notebook, you are agreeing to all the following conditions.  if you do not agree to these conditions, DO NOT USER OR SERVICES OR SEND US YOUR NOTEBOOK.  You agree:
1. That you are the legal owner of the notebook and over 18 years of age.
2. To enclose the laptop and AC Power supply and any recovery CDs or DVDs in your posession. Please place your last name and SMA   number on masking tape and attach to your notebook charger and any DVDs.
3. You must send the SERIAL NUMBER of the unit in the initial SMA.  If the SERIAL NUMBER OF THE UNIT SHIPPED DOES NOT MATCH THE SMA NUMBER, THE NOTEBOOK WILL BE RETURNED NOT DIAGNOSED AND AT YOUR EXPENSE.
4. We are not responsible for any notebooks lost in transit to or from our facility.  It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to use a shipper that  provides tracking information and to contact the shipping company and file a claim of lost or damaged merchandise.
5. You must contact us with 14 days of 2nd email notification of your laptop diagnosis with your decision regarding your notebook.     If you do not contact us within 14 days of our 2nd email contact to your regarding your notebook diagnostic, you agree that we can dispose of your notebook in any manner we determine without any compensation to you whatsoever.
6. You agree that our maximum liability to you is the return of your broken notebook OR a broken notebook of similar specifications.
7. You agree that we are not responsible for any lost data or down time or damages as a result of your lost data.    
8. You need to prepay shipping BOTH WAYS or pay shipment to us and make arrangements for return shipping of your notebook.  You should ship your notebook insured and signature required to protect your investment. INCLUDE THE NOTEBOOK AC CHARGER.  Please insert the return ship to label in the box.  We only pay for return shipping IF YOU ACCEPT AND PAY FOR THE COMPLETED REPAIR.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE NOTEBOOK FIXED, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO WE MAKE ARRANGMENTS OR PAY FOR RETURN SHIPPING OF YOUR PRODUCT TO YOU.  It is your responsibility to make financial arrangements for the return of your notebook. If arrangements are not made with 14 days of refusing repair, YOU AGREE THAT WE CAN DISPOSE OF YOUR NOTEBOOK WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION TO YOU.
9. Your shipping of your notebook to us is proof that you have read and agree to all these conditions of using our services.

7. Cash out or Trade-in option (trade credit will be $25 higher).

Our technicians will provide a FREE quick check diagnostic on your non-working notebook. The notebook must be licensed for Windows XP, XP Pro, Vista or Windows 7.
